I purchased this van in December of 2014 from a church in Southern Oregon. It had been stored in a garage for a number of years. I went completely through the engine, fuel system cooling and exhaust system in 2015. Everything was replaced or repaired during that time. I have receipts for all that was done. The van does not leak a drop of oil.
The van was upgraded to electric ignition and the 2 barrel carb was replaced with a 650 CFM Edelbrock 4 barrel Carb and intake. The exhaust manifold was replaced with chrome headers and side pipes. The doghouse was completely stripped down, repainted and re insulated. I’ve also added a fuse block in the front of the van as I had planned on installed more lights, however i never got around to it.
I have installed an Aux 12v port for charging electronics. The water temp gauge on the dash has been disabled and i have installed a digital water temp gauge to the dog house. The battery is 2 years old and has a disconnect i use when i store the van, which i do over the winter. The van has been stored in my garage the past 2 years and has not seen the Oregon Rain since I have owned it. All glass is good except for the front windshield (See ‘the Negatives” below.) I have an extra side window that comes with the van in case one need replacing.
I have replaced the Tranny Fluid with Amsoil Synthetic Fluid, and also the rear differential with Amsoil 90 wt.
Brakes are nice and firm, fluid changed with Amsoil Synthetic and brakes re-bled.
Reconditioned/Cleaned Fuel Tank
New Fuel Pump
New Carb and Intake
New Water pump
New Oil Pump
All Engine Seals
I have the front bumper, and also the side step that will go with the van. I also have the owners manual and the original service manual that came with the van. I also have that same manual as a PDF, and all that will come with the van.
The van runs great and stops as it should. It is a daily driver if you want it to be or would be fun to turn into a camper.
-The front passenger side windshield has a crack, (its a 2 piece windshield)
-The column turn signal selector is finicky
-There is a small rust spot in the passenger floorboard.
-i have the original back bench seat, but it has no hardware to bolt to van
-Gas gauge can be sticky. I get 200 miles on a tank fill up so i keep track of it that way, but it does work about ½ the time. I have an a new sending unit that ill include with the van and will fix that problem.
-In dash AM radio does not work.
Any Questions, Please ask. The van gets a lot of attention. It’s fun to drive and a neat project. I planned on doing the interior and paint however my interests have changed to getting an ATV. And i can’t justify having both. 😉
