What an amazing find! This wonderful and rare 1970 Dodge Xployer A-100 Camper RV was recently found in Texas. It is a rare bird! I have only found pictures of a few left worldwide on line.
The camper is overall in very nice shape. It has a 318 V8 with Power Steering, Power Brakes and Air Conditioning. The body is very straight and very solid on the top and bottom side.
The paint is mostly presentable except towards the rear where it was facing the sun from under the carport. The rear strip has blistering.
The tires are brand new with ZERO miles on them. Inside the camper is very original and intact. It offers a two-burner cook top, mini refrigerator, sink, booth and table for dining, closet for hanging clothes, large full size bed in the rear for two. It even has a small private bathroom with toilet and sink.
Much of the interior should be updated, like the carpet, mattress, table top, drapes etc.
The truck last was started a few years ago according to the past owner. To play it safe, we didn’t just throw a battery in it and start cranking. We got under the truck and cranked it by hand. Turns out…it was not stuck. We installed a battery and it cranks over nicely but didn’t start.
I’m sure the carburetor needs rebuilding from sitting so long. If the truck reaches my reasonable reserve price, I will offer the high bidder the free labor of pulling the carb. and delivering it to Lone Star Carburetor for a rebuild. You’ll need to cover the rebuild cost between $125-$175. I will make sure the camper will drive onto your transport trailer.
The truck comes with a clear Texas title and a very nice hard cover vintage maintenance book. Oh…there’s also a vintage awning that comes with it.
The only real rust issue on the camper is on the windshield frame on the passenger side pillar.
